[News Boquete] Fwd: Re: Tuesday Talk; Alto al Crimen Annual report to the community, and newspaper article re Rodny Moreno

As announced yesterday via News Boquete (see the below extract), Alto Al Crimen (Crime Stoppers) activities here in our area will be the topic for the Tuesday (February 17th) for the community talk at the BCP Theater.

Feb 17 Alto Al Crimen Annual report to the community and proactive seminar. Discussion of the organization and services rendered in 2014.  We will also have Jackie Jeffers discussing home security and Kris Berg on using a dog for security. AAC will bring back home security inspections again this year.  Alto al Crimen is important to the community and is part of why we do not have many crimes to report.
Some of you may not be aware that Alto Al Crimen has set up a kind of dedicated "911 style" emergency call dispatching service. You may learn more about that during their presentation next Tuesday.

Rodny Moreno has been an integral component of Alto Al Crimen, in that he is the person who answers your telephone calls when assistance is needed. He then passes your call to the appropriate agency (in Spanish, of course) so that the needed assistance can be dispatched. I do not know if Rodny will be attending the Alto Al Crimen talk this coming Tuesday.

Rodny's personal story is rather amazing. The primary reason for this message is that Rodny was the subject of a newspaper article in 2014. Since there are many newcomers to the Boquete area, I have gotten approval from Rodny to make that newspaper article available to those who may be interested in knowing more about the person behind the telephone. Here is a link to that article:
