For the last 25 years Boquete has celebrated X-mas, for the Indigenous Children, on December 31.
During the last 6 years CLUB ROTARIO DE BOQUETE has been supporting the Castillo family in this event.
The date of this event came about with the thought in mind of being able to buy the much needed toys for these children with the "After Christmas Sales." Taking advantage of the lower prices would ensure a toy for every Indigenous child.
Through the years, this celebration has attracted quite a few children in the district. Lately we have noticed that children from every social structure come to the event in the hope of getting a present.
What started just for the "Indigenous Children" has developed into an event for all children in the community because we cannot turn away any child and his or her hope of being part of this fun time.
The Castillo family gives these children a "Goody Bag" along with the toy. This bag has a fruit, cookies and candy in it.
At one time the children were given some warm food because a benefactor had given a donation specifically for that.
There was also one year when Valle Escondido residents donated Cotton Candy.
PLEASE REMEMBER THESE CHILDREN AND HELP US TO MAKE THIS EVENT POSSIBLE ONCE AGAIN BY DONATING A WRAPPED TOY (S).
-PLEASE STATE AGE AND GENDER ON IT.
-UNISEX TOYS ARE GREATLY NEEDED AS IN THE PAST WE HAVE HAD SITUATIONS WHERE WE HAD TOO MANY TOYS FOR GIRLS OR TOO MANY FOR BOYS.
