[News Boquete] Alto al Crimen is alive and well in Boquete!

We are an involved group of volunteers that represent one of many new and old, active volunteers for Alto al Crimen. We believe that it is important to give all of the members of Alto al Crimen and the Boquete community as a whole an update on how our non-profit organization is moving forward.  Let us first say that Alto al Crimen continues to provide services to all callers to our Hotline and will continue to provide this valuable service moving forward.  Here are a few important points we would like you to understand.

·       Organizational Board for Alto al Crimen: With the passing of Lee Zeltzer it was necessary to fill certain vacancies on the AAC board of directors.  Several new volunteers have stepped forward to assist AAC and some have offered to fill the vacant board positions. We hope to have this process completed in the next two to three weeks. At that time the new board will be communicating a detailed plan on how Alto al Crimen will continue to serve the greater Boquete community.  It is important to let all know that the group of old and new volunteers for AAC are committed to the ongoing provision of hotline services to any and all callers, regardless of whether or not they have made donations to AAC (though we strongly encourage everyone to contribute). Other security education and evaluative services that AAC has provided in the past will be continued and expanded.

·       Provision of current hotline services: Rodney continues to provide hotline coverage for Alto al Crimen through his contractual agreement with our organization.  AAC is current with its payments to Rodney for his services through the recent, generous, cash donations from many donors and funds availability will not be an issue going forward.  Once the new board is in place and officers appointed, AAC will re-establish control over it's bank account, that will support all initiatives proposed and budgeted in the future.

·       Provision of future hotline services: Alto al Crimen greatly appreciates the services that Rodney has provided and continues to provide through his contract with our organization. Though we have not received any formal communication from Rodney, he has indicated indirectly that he does not desire to continue with our contractual arrangement after the end of the current contract, which runs until February 4, 2016.

·       Alto al Crimen approach with Rodney: We want to reiterate all members, including the current board, are grateful for the ongoing services that Rodney has provided through AAC. Once our new board is in place formal discussions will be held with Rodney and, if it is true that he no longer desires to continue to provide service to AAC, then our organization is working to provide alternative coverage and will continue the Hotline service without interruption.

·       Continued commitment of service: Alto al Crimen is committed to assisting all who seek our services related to emergency support and security services. Our Hotline service, which functions as a bilingual 911 service, has between 550 and 600 registrants who can reliably call 24 hours per day, seven days per week and receive assistance calling police, firefighters and ambulance services or for translation assistance with traffic stops, vehicle accidents or vehicle breakdowns on the road. These service are also available for any non-registrant, visitor, tourist or resident who may be in need.  In addition, AAC is committed to providing programs and services that increase the security for homes and communities in and around the greater Boquete area.

As a group of new volunteers for Alto al Crimen we am excited about the growing support for the continuation of our not-for-profit organization in service to Boquete.  Please share this information with others and look for updates as a bright future unfolds for Alto al Crimen.
