Our next dynamic play is A RAISIN IN THE SUN, an adaptation. Winner of four TONY awards in 1959. This play catapulted the career of Sidney Poitier. A RAISIN IN THE SUN is an adaptation of the story of a LATINO family living in the South Side of Chicago in the early 1960’s. Not being a well-to-do family, they struggle to survive economically and to overcome the bigotry against minorities that prevailed at the time. Nevertheless they have dreams, hope and expectations that would change their individual and collective lives. A RAISIN IN THE SUN is adapted and directed by Carlos Williams; produced by Gale Cellucci and showing February 16, 17, 18 and 23, 24, 25, 2012 at 8:00 P.M. Nuestra proxima presentaciòn es la obra dramatica entitulada A RAISIN IN THE SUN, ganadora del premio TONY en 1959 (Mejor Obra Dramatica). Esa producciòn sirviò para dar inicio a la carrera teatral del conocido actor Sidney Poitier. La version que presentamos es una adaptacion del original que enmarcaba una familia de raza negra. En esta version la actuacion se centra alrededor de una familia latina viviendo en el lado sur de la ciudad de Chicago durante los inicios de 1960. La familia es de bajos recursos economicos y sujeta a la intolerancia racial que imperaba en esa epoca. La historia trata de los conflictos familiares, los suenos individuales, y las lealtades que surjen cuando reciben el pago de un seguro de vida del difunto padre. A RAISIN IN THE SUN es dirigida por Carlos Williams y producida por Gale Cellucci y se presentara en el Teatro Guild de Ancon los dias 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 y 25 de febrero de 2012 a las 8:00 p.m. El Teatro Guild esta ubicado detras de la Direccion de Investigacion Judicial en Ancon.
