HOW TO DO TWO GOOD THINGS

Today, there are Kindle, Ipad, Nook, and I don’t even know how many other e-readers.  Before, there was Harold de Mun and the Book Mark.  Remember those days and how the English-speaking community here would have been in withdrawal had it not been for Hal and his treasure trove?

If you were one of those who relied heavily on him and his books, as I did, then you will want to be involved in this.  If you were not, you will want to be involved anyhow, because it is an easy way to DO TWO GOOD THINGS – one for Hal and one for our community.

Hal has gone from us, and our new library is now a reality and needs books, furniture and all sorts of things.  The library Board has agreed to place a memorial plaque in the library honoring Hal and his contributions.  In turn, I have agreed to raise money for the library, so I really need your help.  I was happy to see so many people at the memorial service for Hal, and this is another opportunity for those who attended as well as those who could not, to show how much he meant to us.

It is also an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to your community and a way to support the hard work and dedication of the benefactors of this wonderful addition to our beautiful town.  In his comments at the pre-opening of the library Friday night, Price Peterson said that a book can change someone’s life and that a library full of books can change a community.  If you doubt that, please click on and read the article below.

And then, please email me or call me and tell me where and when to pick up your contribution.

Thank you so much.  Let’s get this done in typical Boquete fashion - opening our hearts and purse-strings and working together to accomplish the best for all of us.
