Sprained ankle problems and Carpal tunnel syndrome

Hear how Osteopathy can improve these conditions and many others, don't live with pain unnecessarily.

(One residents comment "it has been years and having tried many alternatives to be this pain free")

Osteopathy can treat both acute pain (e.g. from a current injury) and chronic pain (caused by past injuries or health problems). With osteopathy you can find and treat injured muscles, ligaments, nerves and joints. The osteopathic treatment helps the body to function as a balanced and efficient system causing minimum wear and tear. Because of this your body will function better and have more energy.

The osteopathic treatment is gentle and non-invasive. Stretches, gentle joint mobilization and massage-like techniques are used to remove imbalances in mobility. The cranio sacral (osteopathic) therapy is another technique used to re-balance ligaments and strains throughout the body.

How osteopathy help with:

Sprained ankle

Sprained ankle is caused by stretching or straining the ligaments that support the ankle. There are different degrees of ligament damage and the recovery time depends on the extent of the damage and how quickly the ankle is treated. Osteopathic treatment speeds up recovery and reducing the chances of further damage.

A sprained ankle can if not treated cause problem with gait which in turn can give aches and pains typically in the knees, hips and/or low back.

Type of techniques depends of in which stage the healing process is. The treatment consists of reducing the swelling and inflammation, increasing movement of the foot and ankle, easing the muscular tension, strengthening and proprioception (balance) exercises.

Carpal tunnel syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by compression of the median nerve as it passes through the carpal tunnel from the wrist into the hand. The nerve is surrounded by a sheath and may be compressed due to fluid retention or due to inflammation of the sheath from over-use. Symptoms can be pain / pins and needles / weakness and numbness of the middle 3 fingers of the hand.

Osteopathic treatment involves different techniques that can be very helpful in releasing tension from the sheath and draining excess fluid, there is also exercises to help to release the tension around the nerve.
