[News Boquete] Animales March Clinic

On Sunday March 30, Amigos de Animales spayed or neutered 207 animals, 152 dogs and 55 cats.  We worked at the El Cacho gym which is perfect for our larger clinics, allowing us to spread out and accommodate the nine vets that we had last Sunday.  Our usual Panamanian and Costa Rican vets were joined by our 3 wonderful US vets, Dr Dan Evers, Dr Jeff Mullen who was assisted by his wife Connie, and Dra Sandy.

 

Only 55 cats? It certainly seemed to us who were working in Recovery with the cats that there was an unlimited supply of kittens, tiny kittens, the smallest less than one pound.  We are often questioned about the advisability of working on such small animals, but the answer always is that this might be their only shot at being sterilized and this procedure will give them the best chance for a healthy life, one they might not have otherwise.

 

This was not our biggest clinic of the year, January is the one to beat at 258, but it certainly was one of the smoothest.  Once again, as soon as we got started it was down to work, everyone in place and doing what they know how to do.  We moved people around as needed and welcomed Nancy Bourque from ARF to the team working in post-op. Our volunteers are the best, our greatest asset! 

We thank all our food providers, Nairn and Mike's and Rodrigo (the best lettuce in Boquete!) and everyone else who contributes to our clinics.

As always, we are blessed to live in and be a part of this community which cares about the people and the animals who live here.
