Class descriptions

 

Iyengar stretch and strengthen yoga 1 hour

This class focuses on the realignment of the body through various yoga poses.  Stretching and strengthening are a big focus of the class to keep the body fluid, strong, and full of energy.

 

Yoga fusion 1 hour

Yoga fusion also focuses on the realignment of the body to create a healthy pain free body.  Yoga fusion takes it a step further by bringing up the heart rate by flowing from one posture to another with fluid, strong, and graceful movements.  I always give anywhere from 2-3 different level options for all poses, so all levels of students are welcome.

 

Power yoga 1 ½ hours

Don't let the name scare you off.   Power yoga is a great way to increase your metabolism, strengthen your heart, build muscle, and challenge yourself to take your yoga practice to the next level.  Power yoga classes have more challenging arm balances, inversions, and deeper stretches.  Give it a try and you might surprise yourself with what you can do!

Chair yoga Regular Chair Yoga practice benefits the body and mind. It benefits every body part because it increases blood circulation, improves feet, toes, hand and finger movements, improves balance, stimulates the elimination of body toxins, improves posture, flexibility and mobility, muscle and bone health.  It is gentle on the body and helps you to strengthen bones and muscles, because you can hold postures longer and with more stability.

 

 

Meditation 20 minutes

I could list pages and pages of the endless benefits of adding meditation into your yoga practice and your daily life.  We will discover these benefits by practicing various meditation techniques each week.  The possibilities are endless and you will find, over time, that you look forward to your meditation practice.  It will change your life.

 

Class Hosts and locations

 

Doris and her good friend Suzie have been practicing yoga for years.  They have taken their yoga practice to the next level by adding meditation to their lives.  If you have not met Doris and Suzie you have not had the full Boquete experience yet.  Doris has a lovely house overlooking a creek and the beautiful Boquete mountains.  They have opened their home and their hearts to all those who would like to join us on our Wednesday practice together!

 

Directions (When you get to the Valle Escondido gate let them know you are going to a yoga class at Doris's house.  Go straight until you get to a yellow bar gate.  The house is the 2nd one on the right just after the yellow bar gate)

 

Nevia and Harreson have spent most of their lives dancing the night away all over the world.  Yoga has enhanced their dancing ability with increased stamina, balance, and flexibility.  They have opened their home to those who would like to join them on their journey with power yoga.  You may have already been to Nevia and Harreson's home for one of their all night parties, but you will be enchanted by the view during the day.  Come practice in the clouds and on a beautiful hard wood floor with great people, fun music, and lots of laughter.

 

 Located on the road to El Salto just after the Dos Jefe's Coffee farm. On the right hand side, look for the gate and wall that says Pachamama, which means mother earth.  Press the button on the right that says casa and wait for the gate to open.

 

Perry and Maky started taking my boot camp class last year and have continued the tradition well after boot camp was over.  They have started a weekly boot camp group that walk and use hand weights to keep in shape.  Joining the boot camp is free and they meet three times a week at 7:30am (Mon, Wed, and Fri).  The group has decided to take their fitness and health to the next level by adding one hour of yoga after each boot camp class.  That's right.  Two hours of exercise a day.  These guys are out of control.  Join them on Monday or Wednesday late morning at the Kalima suietes (near the town center) for a stretch and strengthen yoga practice!  Go boot campers!

Avoiding common yoga injuries

This is a must take workshop by all yogis.  While yoga is a great practice for relaxing, strengthening, and replenishing your body it can also do some damage over time if you are not aware of common yoga injuries to knees, back, neck, shoulders, and wrists.  We will also review the anatomy of yoga and how your body can best fit your yoga practice.  Yoga instructors can only cover so much information during classes, so having a full class dedicated to injury prevention is very important, especially with the growing amount of participants in Boquete.  There are two different dates and times to choose from.  The location will be determined by the amount of people that sign up for the course, so please sign up early!

 

Yoga water fall hike

By far the most beautiful hike in Boquete, topped with some gentle yoga stretches!  Great views of Boquete, two of Panamas's biggest and most beautiful waterfalls. You don't want to miss it
$10 (5 for entrance fee $5 for yoga practice)

 

Meditations for Beginners

Hundreds of research studies have verified that the practice of meditation results in a wide range of positive effects on a person's mind, body, and behavior. We will be practicing three different types of meditation and taking time to discuss and write about our experience of each one.  Choose your favorite meditation technique or incorporate all of them into your practice. $6 (Includes tea and fruit)

 

Yoga Island Beach retreat

Spend the day on beautiful Gamez Island, eating Mediterranean food, swimming in crystal clear water, frolicking on a soft white sand beach, and of course lots of yoga!

$75 (Includes all transportation, boat ride, food, and yoga practice)
