If you have an alarm system that auto dials emergency phone numbers and plays a recorded message, it is IMPERATIVE that you DO NOT program it to call the Boquete Hotline.
The recent proliferation of alarm systems with auto dialers is creating a crisis that could destroy the Boquete Hotline for the entire community.
Home alarm systems produce a very high percentage of false alarms. It is the responsibility of the alarm system vendor to provide professional alarm monitoring and the appropriate responses.
Auto dial calls to the Hotline are inappropriate and unacceptable.
The first instance will result in a warning. The second will result in permanent blacklisting of your phone number in the Alto al Crimen database.
Legally and ethically, the decision must be made to respond to all auto dial calls to the Hotline or none at all.
Therefore, no auto dial alarm calls with recorded messages will be forwarded to the police or responded to in any way.
The effectiveness of The Boquete Hotline is based on the fact that the operator speaks with a live person and qualifies the crisis before calling the police or ambulance. In most cases, he can direct the responders accurately using the Resident ID database.
Any false alarm auto dial calls reported through the Hotline will damage Alto al Crimen's and the Hotline's credibility with the emergency responders.
We have worked long and hard to develop these relationships and we will not allow this to be negatively impacted by those who program the Hotline phone number into their auto dial security system.
In addition, this puts the rest of the community in increased danger.
You should also be aware that the police themselves will not react to auto dial call alarms. Calling your neighbors could put them in a dangerous confrontation.
Considering that there may be 100 false alarms for every actual break in, professional call monitoring is an essential feature/service and an important consideration when selecting a security system.
