TEXTURE
The June gathering of Boquete Artworks was all about Texture.
Robyn Cole acted as the facilitator for a full-out wonderful presentation on what the art element of Texture is and how many ways there are to use it. Her easy use of the internet and the library's resources always makes for an in-depth study of the subject matter. Robyn always leaves you knowing more about the subject but also with loads of websites and other clues to how you might study further.
Robyn being an artist utilizing texture in every art form she loves, who better to present on the art element of texture, right! She brought fabulous examples from her "Whimsical Bling" which takes vintage, antique and junk jewelry to create unique one of a kind forms. She brought some of her encaustic canvases which are layered luminous art pieces whose texture make them so appealing and tactile. Viewers of Robyn's art are always compelled to touch the surface discovering for themselves the sensual experience of the encaustic method and texture!
Artworks is about sharing also. We were further treated to Zentangling by Rose. Her handmade cards are one-of-a-kind and available for purchase. Be on the look out for her soon-to-be published website. Totsie gave us a peak at her latest Sakiori weaving. It is still "in-process" on it's way to a final wearable destination, but the beauty is already glowing from its texture.
Carrie shared a new paint collection of full textured watercolors and latex paints. She used the ATC's as a means to explore all the possibilities of the new medium and the art element, texture. Her results were fabulous. Her methodical and thorough approach always allows us a fun and very educational share. Thanks Carrie!
