[News Boquete] Third Annual Corn Hole Tournament of Boquete

Proving that lightning can strike twice, Caeser Sherrard and Mike McGlaughry, came out of the loser's bracket to win 2 straight games from the previously undefeated team of Franc Lugo and Calixto Quiel, thereby taking the Corn Hole Championship of Boquete for the second time in 3 years.  So congratulations to Caeser and Mike for the victory and to Frank and Calixto for their strong showing.

But perhaps the bigger story is that the Boquete community came together to show their support for ReAL Boquete, and had a great time in the process.  Forty teams were entered, some of which had never played Corn Hole.  And counting the outright donations made by some non players, the event earned over $800, all of which will go to preserving our natural resources and educating our youth as to the value and process of recycling.

We also need to mention our 2 sponsors, Baru Restaurant, which is located next to the public square, and The Boquete Jazz Festival.   If you haven't been to Baru, give it a try.  By my count, they make the best pizza in Boquete.  And if you like Jazz, your support of the The Boquete Jazz Festival will assure the continuation of this valued tradition. 

Overall, it was a great community day which was enjoyed by everyone that attended.  More than one of the first time attendees made a point of telling me that they were surprised at how much fun they had.  And that was one of our goals.  The other goals were to raise a bit of cash to help with our expenses at the recycling center, and to raise the environmental awareness of the community.
