Health Insurance in Panama

How it works...
How to get it...
What you need to know

Health Insurance is for the unplanned medical emergencies and medical issues that life and accidents serve up so regularly, especially as we get older.

If you are younger than 57 years old,  you can buy health insurance, similar to US insurance, from all the four big insurance companies in Panama, and it will work more or less like in the USA. If you are older than 57 however, far fewer options are there for you.

We will explore the options of Hospital  Chiriqui insurance via the Insurance company Pan American Life,  and the speakers are Manuel Granados and his associate Christian Ng. They will explain the coverage amounts, the deductibles, the hospitals that are included in this group, in Coronado and Panama City, how to deal with pre-existing conditions, how to get pre-approved for procedures and the fees for the monthly insurance.

We will also hear from Magda Crespo, our local insurance agent who will explain the program offered by World Wide insurance, and Ancon Health Insurance, their age restrictions, their deductibles, and their coverage in general and where to go to be covered.

Prudence would suggest that all folks here should have EMERGENCY coverage even if they can hop home to Canada or the USA for planned procedures, frequently at less out of pocket costs.

Should you be self insured or also covered by a Policy in Panama,  stand alone or in addition to home country insurance?

YOU decide - this talk will make your options and costs clear to you.
