PALMIRA GOLD COFFEE |
By Sandra Cripe Palmira Gold coffee is grown on our small farm at 4200’ elevation on the southern slope of Volcan Barú in rich black volcanic soil. Our farming practices are “Earth Friendly” as the coffee plants are shade grown without pesticides among trees in a bird friendly environment. The coffee cherries are harvested with care to assure only the ripest and best cherries are picked. They are washed, sorted and dried, then then allowed to “rest” for a few months. This process evens the humidity and deepens the flavor. The cherries are then peeled to reveal the coffee beans which are roasted in five pound batches with careful monitoring to assure they are roasted to the same standards. Our standard roast has the designation “full-city” and each bag contains a full pound of fresh roasted coffee. |
