I have received the following information from the British Consulate (Pro Consul) regarding passport extensions. If you have any further questions the contact details for Maria Gabriela Lopez, Pro Consul are shown below.
Tricia Daugherty
As many of you have probably heard by now, the HM Passport Office has been dealing with a very high demand of passports over the last few months. This has caused a considerable delay on the returns of the passports and therefore new emergency measures have been taken.
This option consists on issuing a 12 month extension stamp on British Passports. This service will be provided free of charge at the Embassy beginning on 23rd of June 2014 IF the customer is eligible for it.
Further guidance on how to know if you are eligible, how to apply and the frequently asked questions are available on the attached document.
We would be grateful if you could notify your British Community of these new measures.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
