[News Boquete] Muchisimas Gracias

"The wonderful expat community of Boquete has done it again." The last time I wrote that, it was to acknowledge the incredible outpouring of concern and food and goods for the flood victims of Soloy, in the Comarca, in 2011. This time it is for my own upcoming medical expenses, occasioned by a worsening heart condition. This has been an amazing and incredible week. ..and a truly humbling experience. I feel deep gratitude to all the people who came out to the fundraising event on Sunday, and contributed to the LifeSavor fund. I feel deep gratitude to the Dodge family -- Gaye, John and Joanna (and Xavier, almost a Dodge) -- who insisted on organizing this successful benefit concert, and for the weeks of work that they put into preparation, publicity, necessary arrangements, and then -- blessed us with their incredible musical talent!  That is a pure gift of love. And Bob Applegate backed them up with some mean, "jazz" drumming! I want to thank BCP for going a "little outside" their guidelines for use of the facility. I want to offer a special thanks to Tammy Smith and Joanne Hatch for rearranging their Sunday schedules, at the very last minute, to run the best ever, BCP bar. Joanne even concocted a special mango daiquiri for the occasion. Yummmmm!

I owe (and have promised) a huge hug to Barbara Radkin for donating one of her lovely paintings for the silent auction, "Portrait of a Longing Heart." Is that perfect, or what? Susie Brymer was smiling from ear to ear as she carried it away.

Dave and Erin Ross get their own special 'Muchas Gracias' for…well, they know why.

So many people pitched in to make this a fantastic event. I will never forget. And this is something that I want to say to everyone. I would not wish my condition or circumstances on anyone…but, I do wish for each of you, that at sometime in your life, if it has not happened already, that you experience the incredible outpouring of LOVE from your friends and community, and that you feel it surround and lift you. That is overwhelming. That is life changing. You will never be the same.

Very sincerely,

-Howard Hill
