Art is alive and well in Boquete

Reply To: Bud Huber <bud.huber@grommet.net>

Hi all,

For those who may not be aware, there is a new piece of artwork being "constructed" here in Boquete. I think of it as the "totem tree" because it is an old tree that is being transformed into a piece of artwork. I stopped and met "Cholo" while returning home from an errand this morning. I believe I am spelling his name correctly, but apologize if I got it wrong. The artist was very warm, receptive to talking about his artwork, and with a very firm handshake.

This new piece of artwork is on the opposite side of the road from and about 100 meters south of Café Ruiz (close to Mi Jarden Es Su Jardin) on the road out of Boquete up to Los Naranjos. I chatted for a short time with the artist, and I believe he has named this piece of artwork as "Vida" (meaning "Life"). I got the impression from his comments that he is hoping to make a public statement about death and killing, etc., but could have misunderstood. Isn't Boquete a special place.

Attached are some photographs taken this morning (at greatly reduced resolution to get this message through the News.Boquete system).
