MAY 22: Boquete for beginners. Don Anitlla, a 18 year resident of Panama will discuss some of  the most serious problems newcomer  encounter. They have  a common thread, predators we hire,  befriend or contract. He will discuss how  to avoid  costly and sometimes life changing mistakes.

This is for everyone, not just newcomers. Don plans  will touch on a varity of subjects including home and personal security to fun things to do in Panama only the locals know about.

MAY 29:  How to minimize the risk of  Hospital Acquired Infections, HAI. HAI's in the U.S. cause or contribute to 99,000 deaths per year, Panama is not immune and neither are we.  Mary Lynah< Donna O'toole and Dee Horn, retired nurses will speak on the subject of HAI's and tips for protecting yourself.

June  5:  Ralph Dessau ( retired Chemical Engineer and passionate Hummingbird observer) will present " The Importance of Hummingbirds".

June 12:    Power surges from the utility grid and the unique problems of protecting one's home from lightning strikes are the topics of this presentation. There's an old dentist joke that asks, "Which teeth should I floss? Only the ones you want to keep". Learn the basics of how to protect the electronics and other appliances in your home or business from these devastating events.

June 19: Carla Black : Heliconias in general, their natural history, adventures in their habitat, as well as care in the garden.

Buenos Vecinos de Boquete
Buenos Vecinos de Boquete is a small group of volunteers who deliver food supplies to the handicapped and elderly on a monthly basis. You can make donations at the Tuesday meeting. For more information, see Irene at the meeting.

Used Book Sales
Well over 350 used books DVDs and CDs for sale and U.S. stamps
for your mail. All proceeds from the book sales are equally divided between Handicap Foundation of Boquete, Buenos Vecinos and Carolina Alvarez Concepcion who is blind. Now also selling Milagros Pinzon's book about Boquete for $5.00 and Stanley Heckadon-Noreno's book "Naturalists on the Isthmus of Panama" for $15.00. Donations of books, Cds, DVDs, magazines and jigsaw puzzles will be gratefully received.

Amigos de los Animales, the group that sterilizes, provides feeding stations and supports the rescue and adoption of dogs and cats is always looking for dog and cat food and monetary donations for medicines as well as clinics.  See Carole, Cat, or Heather at the "animales" booth near the auditorium door for your donations.  Do a good deed and foster or adopt a rescued animal.  Check our web site for more information.  www.fadab.org   Click on the Adopt Me button to see the wonderful animals available.
