This morning we received the following notice from Bob Gregory as a result of research he did yesterday concerning a window for registering unlicensed firearms with the Panamanian government - but the window closes June 1, forever. Anyone who possesses an unlicensed firearm needs to be aware of and act to preserve the legality of their possession, or destroy the weapon. You may get multiple copies of this notice, as it is being sent to multiple, sometimes overlapping, databases.
URGENT AND IMPORTANT MEETING
If you own a firearm or want to own a firearm, there is important information about the laws in Panama that you need to know.
Particularly if you brought in (or otherwise acquired) a firearm and have never registered it, there is an important deadline less than six weeks away that could possibly make your life a nightmare.
There are also new changes in the Permiso de Armas regulations and gun range qualification laws that you must know.
There will be a one-time meeting to cover these topics for all interested/concerned people on SATURDAY, APRIL 20 at Amigos Restaurante at 11:00 in the dining room.
There will be a presentation (roughly and quickly organized) to provide as many facts as we have available. It will be a PowerPoint presentation, and no handouts will be available. Bring a notebook and a pen to take notes,
This is not an advocacy meeting to urge people to obtain and use firearms. It is an advisory meeting to help people avoid problems if at all possible.
There will be a question and answer period, but be prepared for some answers to be "I don't know." There is no time to accumulate exhaustive information because of the very limited time remaining for action.
If you know anyone who may be affected by this matter, please check to see if he or she has received this notice.
