The cabalgata is scheduled to start with a regular parade at 3pm with the horse parade to follow. As this is the festival day for David's patron saint--San Jose de David--it's a big deal. Banks, government offices, and many businesses will be closed. Last year there were some 3000 horses, if I recall correctly.
The starting point has moved from last year. Coming from the Pan Americana on Calle Brenes (MacDonald's street) go past MacDonald's and past the Nissan dealer. (At this point if you have not parked your car, you will probably wish you had.) Go another block further on, and one block LEFT is the assembly point. The area looks quite small for such a big event.
The parade and cabablaga will probably move down Calle Brenes and turn left to go to Parque Cervantes, the central park in David.
