We have had the new system for one year and many of you have still not learned how to use it. This is causing your Newslady lots of wasted time and headaches. In order to give everyone "fair warning" this is the way it's going to be from now on:
1) Any email sent to the wrong address will not be answered, will not be replied to, will not be forwarded into the distribution system. It will be deleted. We have only one address and that is news.boquete@gmail.com. We have had only that one address for a year and it's noted at the end of every news.boquete email you receive.
2) If you insist on hitting the "reply" button on your computer instead of clicking on the email address of the originator which is the first line in large bold type of all news.boquete emails, you will no longer receive the message "Please follow reply to instructions" from the Newslady. Your email will be deleted and your reply or order or whatever will never go where you intended.
3) The rules for submitting emails for distribution are these:
A. The information must be specifically pertinent to the larger Boquete area. A general warning about a computer virus, food re-call, Martian invasion, etc. will not be sent out. Neither will household hints, your political preferences, personal opinions, etc.
B. Your email must be 400kb or smaller.
C. If you are a "for profit" enterprise you are limited to one email a month. You must monitor this. If you continually try to slip an extra one through on me you will be removed from the subscription list.
D. Your email must be an announcement or news of some kind. Just saying "I'm still here and I'm still in business" doesn't cut it.
E. Your email must be relevant to a good share of the recipients. For example I recently turned down an email asking for someone to rent them a fiddle for a week. We do not want to burden 1300 email inboxes with an email that is pertinent to maybe .0001% of the recipients.
F. Please make sure your email is in final form and ready to go out. I do not proof-read, correct mistakes or create your email. Include all pertinent information including dates, times, places, etc. Don't include any little notes to me. Make sure that you have put something pertinent in the Subject Box. "Please send this out" is not a reasonable subject. There are no "do-overs" so do it right the first time.
G. It makes no sense to send attachments. 99% of the recipients will not open your attachment. Put what you want to say into the body of the email.
H. And, finally, the Newslady reserves the right to add to, delete from, modify, or ignore any of the above.
