Subject: Living in the Highlands of Panama
I have already sent a notice to a few people about a new Delphi Forums group I created, the name of which is in the subject. Go to http://forums.delphiforums.com/PanamaExpats. (There my username is volcanexpat.) Although the title is about Living in the Highlands of Panama, questions and answers about any area of Panama are welcome.
I think most of us have objected to the neo format that yahoo groups forced on everyone. I did a lot of searching and research and finally found Delphi groups. The more I discover about Delphi groups, the more impressed I am. Just a few advantages are:
You can subscribe to a particular topic and choose to be notified by email when there are replies – notification can be immediate, hourly, or daily. You can get full-text notifications, or not, as you prefer and select.
When starting a new topic, be sure to give it a heading instead of just "replying" to someone's message on another topic. A list of a topics appears on the left. When you click a topic, you'll see all posts that relate to that particular topic.
You can attach files, pictures, or documents to your message.
After clicking to post a message, see Options at the bottom. You may either (1) Post to the message board so that all members can see it; (2) Reply via email so that only the recipient can read it; (3) mail other people a copy of your post (add up to 10 email addresses). You can also click whether to hide option for others to share your message via Facebook, Google+ or Twitter.
You can also search for messages and can enter various criteria to find a message.
And when you go to Living in the Highlands of Panama (http://forums.delphiforums.com/panamaexpats) on your right you'll see advertisements for other forums, and you can also click to browse the Delphi Forum Index – there are LOTS out there. Then when you click on My Forums at the top of the page, you'll see a list of previously visited forums, which you can remove from your list if you wish.

In time, and as I use this forum and others more, I'm sure to find additional advantages to Delphi Forums.
I now have a 30-day trial period to DelphiExtra, which will cost $19.95 per year if I decide to keep it. (I probably will.) DelphiPlus is $4.95 per month, or $49.50 if paying for a year. Here's an explanation of the various plans: http://www.delphiforums.com/compareplans.ptt
Right now I don't see any need beyond DelphiExtra.
I intend for this group to evolve into the best one ever for Panama. Please help and show your support by going to the site, http://forums.delphiforums.com/panamaexpats and post a message. Your message doesn't have to be about anything in particular, just a "hello." Also you might want to explore some other other Delphi Forums, which I believe are far superior to yahoo groups.
