The Best Place to Shop in Boquete | | The Week at BCP | Sunday, March 2, 2014 | Gala Art Opening Before the Premier of Sex Please, We're Sixty The BCP is going upscale. In cooperation with Boquete Artworks, Friday March 14, BCP will host a gala art opening at 5:30-7PM, showcasing three Boquete artists in the new BCP lobby. Complimentary drinks and snacks will be served. Then, settle in to enjoy what is sure to be a hit from our Artistic Directors, Paul and Hope Morgan. New BCP Council Member - Michael Moore It is with great pleasure that I can announce the unanimous election of Mike Moore to the BCP Council. We all know Mike as a reliable BCP tech volunteer, ace photographer and all around good guy. What you probably don't know about Mike is that he is also a professional business auditor and policy and procedures maven. He is already working with our other Council members to hack through the thicket of tangled policies and unwritten procedures that have bedeviled the BCP for far too long. With our other Council members, Elizabeth Haworth, Carol Delonis, Rhody Edwards and Robert Brauns, and our Artistic Directors, Paul and Hope Morgan, along with stalwart volunteers like Dave and Cindy Thomas, our Operations Manager Tammy Gulick - and oh my goodness, the list is getting longer every day - while we are still looking to fill a couple of key positions, the BCP is truly coming alive and moving forward with purpose and direction. Watch this space - much more coming soon. Tuesday Talk Last Week On Tuesday a stellar panel of Boquete volunteers showcased the range of activities and clubs available to residents of our town. From knitting to horseback riding, bridge to photography, fine art to games and hiking and let's not forget theater, Boquete is brimming with things to do and the BCP is the place to come and learn about them. Tuesday Talk Next Week Hospice in Boquete has evolved into much more than "just" end of life care. The Boquete Hospice & Health Foundation also provides temporary care to community members who are suffering a debilitating disability or disease. In short, the Foundation has established itself as a primary community health resource - run by volunteers. This talk is a must-see for all of us concerned with improving and understanding our health care options in Boquete. 10:30AM Tuesday at the Theater. One-way Parking Comes to the BCP Market This week will see the first use of the new back exit from the BCP parking lot. From now on, you will enter the front gate and leave via the back gate, making the whole affair much smoother, safer and faster. Thanks to Dave Thomas for helping out with this daunting task. Still to be done is the graveling of the parking lot, lining out the parking spaces just like the big time and replacement of the old front gate with a new gate-marquee. These and other improvements are just waiting on available funds, which is a slow process as we work to elevate the BCP to a community resource that we can all be proud of. Boquete Bible Fellowship Moving from BCP to ??? Many of you are familiar with the Boquete Bible Fellowship, started by George and Vicki, which has been holding services in the Hex Room for more than a year. Recently, they were called back to the US on family business and were fortunate enough to find Buddy Westbrook visiting Boquete at just the right moment. Buddy took over as pastor and in a few short months, the congregation has grown to overflowing the Hex Room, or even the Theater. Just as we were in discussion about how to accommodate their rapid growth, an offer came along that they just could not refuse. The BBF is taking over the old Amigo's Restaurant to transform it into a full time church, complete with offices, a kitchen, the terrace and lots of room to grow as a community resource for family-oriented activities. While we are sorry to see Buddy and the BBF leave BCP, we are thrilled with their new opportunity and wish them all the best for the future. Buddy has assured me that he and his members will continue to be supporters of the BCP. Copyright © 2013 Boquete Community Players - All rights reserved. Contact email: bcpboquete@gmail.com | | | |
