Each year the Boquete Rotary Club participates in a teacher exchange program that is designed to improve the education of the local children. The Rotary International Teacher Exchange program provides the opportunity for a local teacher to spend one month in the US working with the local schools and learning new teaching techniques. Then, a US teacher comes to Panama to work in the school for a month to assist that school's teachers. All costs for transportation, room and board are born by the local Rotary Clubs, with support from the local community as needed.
In January of this year, the Boquete Rotary Club sent a local teacher to Witchita, KS for a month. She returned to Panama full of enthusiasm to put her new knowledge to work in the classroom. Beginning in mid-June, we will host a teacher from Witchita, KS to work in the Alto Boquete schools for one month helping the teachers in that school.
We are looking for an english-speaking family to host this teacher for the week of July 5 - 12. The family will need to provide breakfast and dinner each day and transport the teacher to the Alto Boquete school.
