Be advised that many of the rates are substantially higher this year. For instance, my garbage service fee went up 50% (that is not a typo). By US standards, the rates are still a bargain, but for locals this can be a real burden. Be further advised that payments must be made in full and in cash; partial payments are not allowed. Jubilado discounts are accounted for in the published rate tables. I am NOT saying that all rates have gone up 50%; I can only attest to what mine was.
These utility bills are to be paid at the Tesoreria Municipal de Boquete next to Parque Central here in Boquete.
There were at least 17 people in line to pay at the time that I was there this morning. At 2 to 5 minutes per person, you can imagine the waiting times. Two elderly gentlemen in front of me were [politely] told to come back at a later time with the full amount due.
The message here is to be sure you have sufficient cash on hand, otherwise you will be making another trip there, and another wait in a potentially lengthy queue.
