[News Boquete] Jaramillo Arriba Attempted Break-in and Apparent Arrest

Sunday night, August 9th, at 11 p.m., there was an attempted break-in to one of our apartmentos, in Jaramillo Arriba. Our guest was woken when she heard her windows being tampered with. She turned on the light, and heard footsteps running away. We immediately called the Alto Criminal and reported this.

The next morning, we noticed a trail of blood on the outside of the apartmentos, including a handprint on a wall, and a small pool of blood on the far side of our creek.

Rodney at ACC was called twice Sunday night, and twice again on Monday, the Panamanian family that owns and lives on the property also called and spoke to the police directly. The police never did attend our property to examine the evidence. However, the family attended the Police Department in the afternoon, and they were informed that 3 persons had been arrested in Jaramillo. The arrest included one man with a cut on his head. We were subsequently informed of this arrest by several more people, including our local staff.

We felt alarmed that the police did not attend the property, nor did they attempt to contact us. However, I recognize that there are likely many facts that I am not aware of. Perhaps they were on another trail to the same perpetrators, and did indeed arrest them before 24 hours went by.
