Panama is investing in infrastructure

In Panama, konkret in Río Hato wird es einen internationalen Flughafen geben, für die Panamericana ist ein Tunnel geplant.

Im Zusammenhang mit dem Flughafenbau in der Provinz Coclé sind weitere Investitionsprojekte, wie ein Tunnel für die Panamericana, geplant. In Río Hato besteht bereits ein ehemaliger Flugplatz mit Rollsplittpiste, der ursprünglich als Militärbase der US-Armee und anschließend vom, 1989 abgeschafften, panamaischen Militär genutzt wurde.

Die Provinz Coclé hat durch den internationalen Tourismus zuletzt einen wirtschaftlichen Aufschwung erlebt. An der Pazifikküste wurden bereits mehrere neue Hotels erbaut. Derzeit werden jährlich etwa internationale 600.000 Touristen gezählt. Der Bau eines internationalen Flughafens in dieser Gegend soll laut offiziellen Aussagen den Tourismus weiter fördern. Das Investitionsvolumen  wird laut Zeitungsberichten auf 33 Mio. USD geschätzt.

Zudem informierte das Bauministerium kürzlich über die Konstruktion eines etwa 370m langen Tunnels für die Hauptverkehrsader Panamericana auf Höhe der Landepiste des neuen Flughafens. Die Ausschreibung des Projektes soll noch in diesem Jahr erfolgen und beinhaltet neben dem Bau des Tunnels auch die Restauration der alten Flughafenpiste. Neben dem Bau des Flughafens und des Tunnels wird die Verlegung der Hochspannungsleitungen, sowie die Wiederaufforstung notwendig. Diese Folgeinvestitionen werden auf rund 50 Mio. USD geschätzt.
