BUENOS VECINOS DE BOQUETE Sponsor-a-Family Program January 2014

Diana lives with her three children (Milagros age 4, Joswel age 6 and Josthin age 11) in a small room at her in-law's house in downtown Boquete. The children all sleep on a single mattress on the floor with their mother. The two older children attend school. Her husband does not live with the family, and inconsistently provides $120 a month for their support.

Diana has a speech impediment, in addition to blood and lung problems, which make it nearly impossible for her to find work. She is a recent recipient of the monthly food supplements provided by Buenos Vecinos de Boquete to impoverished individuals and families in the community. Despite her speech impediment, it is clear that she is most appreciative of the assistance. When the BVB representative who delivers food to the family also brought some modest Christmas gifts for the children last month, Diana had no words. She simply shed tears of gratitude.
