The Alto al Crimen database information is secure, and their is no evidence of compromise.
There is no evidence of a possible breach of security regarding personal information from the Alto al Crimen database. That claim is purely speculation, and is being used as a scare tactic. Alto al Crimen members' personal information is stored on a secure, password protected remote server just like the Wild Apricot platform database used by Rodny Direct. I know, because I have administered both types of systems.
The only difference is that in addition to administrators, members at Wild Apricot websites - such as Rodny Direct - can access their own records and change/edit them. Just like the current AaC database, Rodny Direct administrators can export membership information to spreadsheets, which is seldom done because of security issues.
- Lee Zeltzer was not the database administrator, and told me he that he did not have a copy of the database. The only information I am aware of that was ever extracted and printed out from the current database contained only names and plaque numbers for use in having people pick up plaques and sign for them.
-
Confidential information such as member home locations, directions to those homes, medical history information was never given to Lee to put on his laptop.
The new "Rodny Direct" will offer the same excellent 24 x 7 x 365 hotline service as AaC, but only for those who can afford it, and appears to exclude low-income residents.
Unlike the Alto al Crimen hotline, Rodny Direct apparently will not help those who cannot afford $80 per year.
- Don't worry about an interruption of hotline service.
- The AaC Hotline will remain active until February 4,2016.
- You will be notified of progress in changes relating to Alto al Crimen
