We found 19 dogs and 30 cats at a terrible dumpster in Potrerillos.  The dogs were tied to trees exposed to sun and rain.  The woman who "owns" the dogs and cats is rather poor and just seems to collect them when she sees strays on the street.  Where she lives has no water or electricity.  The only water collected is rain water.  There is no place to put those animals. The dogs had been all tied in the bushes - tied with all tangled chains - totally immobile, exposed to the rain, sitting in their feces.

We cleaned up some of the bush area and put up some tarps up to keep them out of the rain.  Rosie and Jeff Crofutt donated a roll of fencing material and with the help of Marion's guy, Joseph and my guy Abel, they constructed a fence, but the area is too small for 19 dogs.

We need donations of fencing material, tin roofing material for a more permanent cover than the tarps, and perhaps some blocks.  We also need donations of dog and cat food.

There is no place to move these animals, but we do want to give them a better shelter.  The cats and dogs have all been sterilized by now, except for five dogs that will be sterilized soon.

Food and money donations can be dropped off at Curvas Bonita.  Please contact Ruby about donating fencing and roofing materials.
