Jean Maickol Guerra, age 13, lives with his parents and sister in a basic dwelling in rural Boquete. Due to complications at birth, he is both physically and mentally handicapped, wheelchair-bound, and requires constant care. Jean's mother, Regina Lizondro (50) is his full time caregiver, although she tries to bring some income to the family by sewing for others in her home. Estaban Guerra (70) is unable to work, and struggles to assist his wife and children. Jean's lovely sister, Daniella, is 19 and attends college on a scholarship provided by Boquete's Rotary Club. Challenged by Jean's condition, Daniella is studying to become a physical therapist, and hopes to help her brother and others in need. She volunteers at the Fundacion Pro Integracion (Handicapped Center) to gain valuable experience in her chosen field.
