[News Boquete] At least 5 dead in Volcan/Cerro Punta flash flood

The following from News Room Panama
TWO CHILDREN died in flash floods in Chiriquí on Sunday August 17 After heavy rains swept across the province.
The deaths took place in Cerro Punta. Four people were injured and the area has been cut off due to floodwaters, said officials with the civil defense agency Sinaproc.

Two houses were affected by the flooding of the Chiriqui River, Viejo while three others are at risk of collapse. A bridge collapsed and the road between Cerro Punta and Volcán was heavily damaged.
According to a preliminary report from Sinaproc, fallen trees, landslides and downed utility poles have cut off access to Cerro Punta reports La Prensa
Inhabitants of Cerro Punta reported that the two people who died were children who were in a house that collapsed. The four people who were injured were passengers in a bus that was caught in floodwaters.

This is from Richard K writing in Gringos in David

C was called into the hospital in Volcan last night around 11 p.m. to help tend to the wounded.  Two children are reported dead and many people are missing.   A friend of her brother's was driving the bus that was swept away.   About 20 minutes ago, the bus was found, severely crushed in the river; at least 3 adults, including the bus driver were found dead inside
Apparently there was a landslide and then a second landslide, and houses were damaged at least as the river crested in the Los Nubes and Nuevo Suiza areas.   The staff of the hospital, at least, will be out searching for the missing when it's light enough.
