Taught by Chris McCall in his brand new studio at Black Rock Art Ranch in Caldera. You will leave with a complete stained glass window up to 22" x 22". All tools are provided and you can create your own design or pick one from a book. The class includes the use of tools (glass cutters, diamond grosser, practice clear glass, patina, and whiting) and free use of the studio until you have finished your first project. You will need to buy your stained glass, lead and solder, but the studio has a selection of these plus zinc, copper foil, and tools available for purchase. We start with a short discussion on understanding how cement is made and proper use of concrete, good formulas and how to tell that your workers are mixing and using concrete correctly. Then we learn to make all different types of cement art. Sculptures, bowls, tiles, carved cement, sinks, birdbaths, mosaic, statues, planters, tiles the list is only limited by your imagination. We will learn finishing techniques that include grinding, carving, acid stain, sealers and wax. Thee class days and four workshop days. Includes materials, acid stain, powder stain, white cement, gray cement, steel, and screen. We have a wide variety of forms and molds for bowls.
