Third Seismology Lecture in Volcan

Reply To: carla black <carla@volcanbaru.com>

Dear English speakers of Boquete and beyond,

OSOP, the organization in Volcán that monitors Volcán Barú invites you to the third lecture in a six-part series presented by one of our visiting scientists. The topics are independent of each other, so you will enjoy this lecture even if you missed the first two. Dr. Bormann is a lively and engaging speaker who brings his subjects to life.

This lecture is titled: Earthquake disasters – scourge of nature or consequence of human ignorance?

Thursday, February 9th

7:00 pm sharp

Mercado de Volcán: turn right at Romero/Police Station; the Mercado is one block from main street on the right.

Dr. Peter Bormann is retired from GFZ, the German equivalent of the USGS. He

has been publishing scholarly works since 1986 and still lectures in

Europe and Asia. He is the editor of the standard manual used by seismic

observatories all over the world.
